Initial call for less than 30 min described the role and got a rough idea of my experience. The role sounded promising and I was looking to forward to learning more about it. Then 1st stage interview with one of the managers. Again asked about my experience and also asked for high level overview of project i worked on at a previous role. Asked questions such as "What was the size of your team?" and "What software methodology did you use?". Interview kind of halted here and was told i was not applying the STAR method. I understand that STAR method is pretty common practice in interviewing but these are not behavioural questions that warrant STAR method. My suggestion to hiring manager is to rephrase your questions into more behavioural ones where STAR could be applied. Or if you are going to ask incredibly closed questions dont expect STAR method to be applied. I appreciate the advice that was given and I understand interviews are not my strong suit but i feel like this interview kind of fell apart from contributions of both parties.
