Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto una settimana. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso uShip (Austin, TX) nel mese di mar 2019
Colloquio
The interview process is extremely impersonal. They start you out with a hackerrank quiz where you're given an hour to answer a mix of open-ended questions about design patterns, experience with testing frameworks, front-end experience, etc.
You're then selected to conduct a 1-on-1 coding challenge that is pretty simple. The other half of this time is spent talking about your experience.
From this point, they'll finally bring you into the office to conduct what I can assume is another round of interviews.
I was declined after the phone screen. I specifically asked the interviewer for feedback and he told me that the solution I provided was good.
Some feedback other than a general "We're moving forward with our candidate search" would be nice. It's the least you could do for wasting someones time.

General quiz/trivia style software engineering questions. A simple coding challenge that involved string manipulation.

I had a phone interview and after that I was scheduled a 1 hour zoom interview the problem was no body showed up and only after an hour of waiting and emailing back and forth with the recruiter they told me that the senior engineer that was supposed to interview me was busy.
so we try to reschedule only to get another email a week after saying they are no longer recruiting.
felt like a dodged a bullet after seeing how they managed the interview process.

I’ve interviewed at uShip 3 times over 20 years. Each time they have wasted my time completely. (2004, 2015 and 2019). Each time has been a very different experience. I have made it to the final round twice only to be denied over some technology I didn’t have experience with, even though I have tons of experience in other technologies.
I have met with their technology executives in the past and even gave them advice on solutions for their own business problems.
Overall I have been left disappointed many times by uShip and I feel like they’ve wasted my time often.

I had to write on a whiteboard in front of the team and they would make suggestions and I would edit it. Some of it turned into pseudocode since I wasn’t on a keyboard. Overall it went well.
I applied again in 2019 and didn’t make it past the first round of online questions. It was a bunch of cloud based questions and buzzwords.
I applied here in 2015 because a good friend of mine was in management at uShip and begged me to apply. I still regret it to this day, as it only wasted my time. The interview process is always slow and labor intensive. Beware before committing any significant amount of time to this fickle tech department, that changes its tech stack every 5 years.
