Vantaggi

If you fall for the propaganda, it's unlimited income potential. Not being stuck in an office all day was certainly a plus. Got some free shirts and a free trip to Maryland for (ahem) training. Met some great co-workers. Got to drive a fun Prius. Decent health care.

Svantaggi

Oh man, where to begin.. From day 1, no make that day -7 (in training) the software had numerous significant glitches. Couple that with no hands on training and you can exponentially increase the amount of time spent to try and meet the required level of performance. (Mostly) clueless managers with no power to actually help those they supervise. A performance/ quality bar that is too high and rigid, instead of tailored to the specifics of the region. GPS tracking and recording of every movement. Continued attempts to create a "competitive" atmosphere, even where it is not conducive. I'm going to stop here, since I could go on for a while with specifics that most people probably won't understand without actually doing the job. Suffice it to say that this company talks a good game up front. The reality is that it has a high turnover rate, is paranoid, has a big brother type culture, has intolerant and inflexible policies and management, and the emperor has no clothes. Work here if you want no life, no appreciation and minimal pay. P.S. Have a good shrink on retainer. Now drop and give me 20.

Svantaggi

Working at CoStar Group was one of the most emotionally exhausting sales environments I’ve experienced. The culture on my team was extremely male-dominated, hyper-competitive, and very much “sink or swim.” Collaboration was talked about constantly by management, but in reality the environment rewarded internal competition, territorial behavior, favoritism, and politics over actual teamwork. As one of the few women on the sales team, I often felt isolated and unsupported. Instead of mentorship or coaching, the expectation was basically: “figure it out yourself.” New hires were thrown into difficult situations with inconsistent training and unrealistic expectations, while certain reps appeared to receive stronger books of business, better territories, or more support than others. It created resentment and a toxic atmosphere where coworkers often felt more like competitors waiting for you to fail than teammates. The turnover was incredibly high, which should have been a red flag. Management pushed aggressive quotas and nonstop pressure while failing to address morale, burnout, or fairness concerns. There was also an unhealthy obsession with leaderboard culture and internal politics that made the workplace feel stressful every single day. What disappointed me most was that I genuinely believed in the product and enjoyed helping clients. Many customers loved working with me, and I built strong relationships. But internally, the environment became mentally draining. The constant competitiveness, lack of support, and toxic culture eventually outweighed the positives of the role.
