Criteo talks a lot about values like care, inclusion, and employee wellbeing, and that can be appealing at first. However, the gap between those loudly promoted values and the internal reality is hard to ignore. Psychological safety depends heavily on your manager, and when things go wrong, it’s not handled well. Do not expect any help from HR. Employees are left without real protection, especially when issues involve leadership behavior. Overall, there’s a strong disconnect between the public image and what many employees experience internally. Over the past few years, the situation has steadily declined. Many talented people have left the company or were laid off, and after multiple rounds of layoffs, those who remain are visibly exhausted. Burnout is common, and morale is low. Additionally, increased outsourcing and offshoring of work has added to uncertainty around roles, responsibilities, and long-term career prospects. Career progression feels disconnected from actual performance. Some people do an excellent job and never get a promotion, while others advance primarily through visibility and managing relationships, rather than real impact which can be extremely frustrating to witness.

People I worked with and the culture was great, work life balance was fantastic.

Every year now it layoffs, makes one want to ask a question. Perhaps Criteo needs a better CFO to manage the companies finances. Being every year Criteo is laying people off, yet CFO still remains. Perhaps Criteo needs to look at those who are staying a bit closer.
