Upper management has a bit of churn and various parts of the company are left behind each time a new direction is taken. Software not deemed as growth is underfunded and much of the client money is being directed elsewhere instead of bug fixes and support for the applications they're using. Salary growth do not keep up with inflation even for high performing individuals, so it's necessary to change roles every few years to keep up with industry averages.
