People in wrong positions - Recensione dipendente - Senior Manager Software Engineering presso GSK

In the Core Tech / Platforms group that I worked, there are many people who should be individual contributors put in place as senior directors in many cases!!! People with plenty of management experience were put in individual contributor positions. A designer was put in charge of an engineering group. This person has no clue and was a puppet in the hands of vested interests. The funding model in the Core Tech / Platforms groups was weird. You can never plan any project beyond a quarter. In tech groups, the employee to contractor ratio is out of whack - way too many contractors per employee. The contractors do not have a whole lot of privileges and yet in many cases they are performing critical functions involving security, compliance, etc.
