Vantaggi
Some interesting projects to work on (but some truly awful ones also)
Svantaggi
Since Connect was acquired by ITG I have been unable to get a pay review or increase in 2-3 years despite cost of living increasing over 20%. The hierarchy of the engineering teams is very poor. Front End Developers report directly to Lead Developers (which are more like seniors) and Lead Developers report into Solution Architects. Some of the Lead Developers have very little commercial experience/knowledge, one of which refuses to fulfil their responsibilities despite being promoted to that position little over a year ago. Some of the Solution Architects are completely clueless and unknowledgeable. With one particular one spending his work time reading development blogs rather than doing the job he is employed to do. Although this is hidden by the illusion that he is working on AEM. Somehow this employee is praised despite having one of his reportees recently left the company because they were unhappy with the project they were working on, they were unable to get time with their line manager to discuss the issue despite several attempts. The issues with the project, which I made the company aware of over 2 years ago, and lack of communication from their line manager (that is rarely working) caused them to leave. There is a large issue with the way that Lead Developers are recruited in which they are interviewed as though they are applying for the Solution Architect position. If you interview for a Lead (frontend) Developer position, you will be interviewed by a Solution Architect as though you are going after their job or a Lead (backend) Developer position. Which explains why they keep managing to put people with the wrong experience and knowledge into Lead Developer positions.
