Vantaggi
It was really nice and convenient to be able to work from home, especially since I don’t have a car. My supervisor/TSM was really nice to work with.
Svantaggi
I used to work at another medical transcription company that was wonderful to work for and I made a good salary. When Nuance bought out that company, my pay plummeted, I’ve depleted almost all of my savings, and I’ve even had to withdraw from my retirement plan a number of times just to keep a roof over my head (and since I’m not 59.5 years of age, I had to deal with the early withdrawal penalty)! Also, their Quality Assurance (FIESA) seems to go out of their way to find any ridiculous nitpicky thing that has no effect on patient care and then claim it as a “major error” or “CPSE error”, knocking the MLS’ accuracy rate to under 99% and dropping their pay rate to the basement; I came to dread checking my work e-mail for fear of getting an “alert” e-mail from FIESA! I’ve been a medical transcriptionist for 27 years. I used to love my job and took great pride in my work, and I felt appreciated by the company where I worked at before they were bought out by Nuance. After Nuance took over, I just felt like I was running on a hamster wheel every day, and the non-stop pressure to meet their production/lines per hour and accuracy requirements for such low pay was really stressing me out!
