Vantaggi

- The people that work at Splice generally really, really care about the product they're building. Many are current / former musicians themselves - Communication from the top of the org is frequent - Great work/life balance - Pay was good - Benefits were good

Svantaggi

- I got laid off along with several others - Holy Re-Orgs, Batman! In my time at Splice I went through two significant re-orgs within the engineering department. This third re-org resulted in layoffs. - The organization as a whole often felt like it was lacking in direction while under former-CEO Steve, yet to be seen how the company takes shape under Kakul (although layoffs are a pretty rough start in my (admittedly biased) opinion) - Rather than allocating sufficient resources to clean up (very) old messes, management seems to be content with adding new features and focusing on adding to the pile

Vantaggi

1. Decent pay and equity package. 2. Commitment to remote-first culture. 3. Generous HSA and retirement matching program. 4. Solid core product. 5. Working with genuinely passionate music fans. 6. Commitment to DEI

Svantaggi

1. Splice takes a lot of pains to make itself out to be mission-driven, but it's run by the standard bunch of greedy capitalists you'd expect at any tech company. The entire leadership team is former Adobe, which should be enough of a warning. Expect capricious business decisions, frequent pivots, and the annual tradition of laying off employees right before the holidays in the interest of operational efficiency. 2. There seems to be a competition of who can be the most special, precious, smartest boy in the company, especially on the Engineering and Data teams. Expect lots of sneering and standoffishness from gatekeepers that are empowered to not get anything done. 3. Speaking of gatekeepers, there are lots of people who are empowered and encouraged to keep you from doing your job. 4. Limited career growth though few people are there long enough to effectively cultivate a career and move within the company. Few people are still with the company from before Kakul took over.
