Vantaggi
Nice salary package/benefits IF you're starting your career in this geographic area. Good work environment where everybody is nice and helpful. You'll know most people from college because it's one of the few worthy companies in the area. Some high-level Software Engineer help you improve yourself. It is a big company by national standards, so there are no financial issues. Virtually no overtime (this shouldn't even be considered a pro, but in these times...). Good benefits if you are a manager, both economic and children-related.
Svantaggi
It is technologically dull, frustrating, repetitive and frozen in time. You'll work with the same 3 technologies "ad nauseum". Their project portfolio has been the same for over 10 years and will not change. There is no room for evolution, it is a niche. Progression is very slow and not very relevant because raises (if you are promoted) are very small. Negotiation is almost non-existent because salaries are labeled (yes, all of them, by hierarchy level, not function). Work/Life Balance is poor - 8h per day is way too long to develop software, so productivity plummets half-way into the day. It is impossible to have fair salaries because they are labeled, so while you might earn above average as an accountant you will earn below average as a software engineer because your career path is the same as the accountant. Office environment is a bit strict and frankly outdated at least for the software house division. In short, it is a nice company to start your career and gain experience for a couple of years, then move somewhere better.
