A good job to have after college — they will hire anyone with a degree. You could even major in animal science and still get hired, as long as you’re willing to work. They simply need people.

Work–life balance is non-existent. The performance evaluation system is top-down and based on peer, manager, and subordinate reviews, which means people have to like you in order for you to get a raise or be promoted. This makes it difficult to do your job because you end up competing with other departments, and once your numbers outperform theirs, your peers begin to resent you. Your subordinates may even sabotage you, because if you have to discipline them, they will give you poor reviews whenever your name shows up in their survey. (Their responds to those survey counts for you to be promoted) Senior management wants to take credit for your development while providing little to no real training. However, as soon as you begin performing better than expected, they may feel threatened and will find something—no matter how small—to hold against you, even if your shift or department is running perfectly. If you are a likable person, you might survive this environment, but otherwise, it’s extremely challenging.
